Tariffs Set to Drive Up Imported Filter Bag Prices by 5-25%: FHI Filter Pricing Not Impacted

FHI Filter pricing will not be impacted by tariffs because products are made in the USA and do not use media sourced from Mexico, China or Canda.

Get ready for a price hike – imported filter bags will increase in price! On Saturday, February 1, 2025, new tariffs were announced that will significantly impact trade between the U.S. and key suppliers:

  • Mexico & Canada: 25% tariff increase
  • China: 10% tariff increase

But that’s not all. The U.S. has also closed a key loophole— the “de minimis” exemption, which previously allowed smaller transactions under $800 to bypass tariffs. In 2024 alone, nearly 1.4 billion such shipments entered the U.S. without duties. (Source: CBP, January 17, 2025)

Hidden Costs: The Filter Media Factor

Beyond the direct tariff increases, the impact runs deeper. Many U.S. manufacturers import their filter media—the felts, fabrics, membranes, meshes, and nonwovens that go into filter bags.
